For this homeowner in Winter Garden, Florida, installing an EV charger was also an opportunity to plan for home backup. Go Electric Chargers installed a Tesla Universal Wall Connector and Tesla Powershare system—and helped him put the full $819 Duke Energy Charger Prep Credit toward the eligible charging electrical work.
How he qualified for the $819 Duke EV credit
The homeowner was a Duke Energy Florida customer. He owned the house, and his electric vehicle was registered to the same address as his Duke account. His qualifying installation was approved for the full $819 credit.
As a participating Duke Energy contractor, we connected the program process with the installation scope so he could use the approved benefit toward eligible electrical infrastructure. The credit reduced that portion of his project cost.
On site: building the charging and backup setup
The project paired a garage-mounted Universal Wall Connector with Powershare equipment at the exterior electrical service. Planning both parts together let us consider the charging circuit, equipment locations and backup configuration as one coordinated installation.
A Tesla Universal Wall Connector for everyday charging
The homeowner’s Tesla Universal Wall Connector installation provides a permanent home charging point. The Universal model supports Tesla’s NACS connection and includes an integrated J1772 adapter for compatible vehicles.
For this Cybertruck project, it also forms part of the compatible Powershare setup. Choosing the right equipment at the start mattered because the homeowner wanted more than a standard charging circuit.
Taking the project further with Tesla Powershare
Tesla Powershare allows an eligible Cybertruck to supply backup power through a compatible, properly installed home system. This project included the Powershare equipment alongside the Universal Wall Connector.
Home backup requires more than plugging in a charger. The vehicle, gateway, charging equipment, software and electrical configuration must work together. Available backup depends on the system design, connected loads and vehicle battery charge.

Tesla Certified expertise, from charging to Powershare
Go Electric Chargers is a Tesla Certified Installer with Powershare training. Our work includes Wall Connectors, Universal Wall Connectors and Powershare projects, along with the electrical planning each installation needs.
For homeowners in the Orlando and Central Florida service area, that means working with a team focused on EV charging—from reviewing the electrical setup to installing and commissioning compatible Tesla equipment.
Could your installation qualify for up to $819?
If you are a Duke Energy Florida customer planning home Level 2 charging, check the program before finalizing your installation. The approved amount depends on eligibility and qualifying work; this customer’s full $819 credit is a real example, not a guaranteed result for every home.
Charger hardware, software and permit fees are excluded. Do not assume that home-backup equipment qualifies simply because it is installed during the same visit. Read our Duke Energy EV Charger Prep Credit guide for the contractor process, covered costs and next steps.

Questions about the credit and this installation
Did Duke's $819 credit pay for the Powershare system?+
The $819 credit in this project went toward eligible electrical work for EV charging. The Powershare backup system was an additional part of the project; the credit should not be understood as funding the whole backup installation.
Why did this homeowner qualify?+
He was a Duke Energy Florida customer, owned the home and had his EV registered to the same service address. Duke approved his qualifying charging work for the full $819 credit. Other applicants must meet Duke's current requirements.
Can I use the credit for a Tesla Universal Wall Connector installation?+
Eligible electrical infrastructure supporting Level 2 charging may qualify. Charger hardware and permit fees are excluded, and Duke determines the approved credit.
Does every Tesla support Powershare home backup?+
No. This project used a Cybertruck with compatible Powershare equipment. A Wall Connector alone does not provide home backup; vehicle eligibility, equipment, software and site design must be checked.
